About Me

I am Ed, a  qualified Maths teacher and college lecturer, with over 10 years experience in delivering private online maths tuition.

I have previously been represented by third party tuition websites and agencies (you may have seen my profile with 70+ glowing feedback), but have now decided to setup this website and work directly with students and their families.

Tutees tend to fall into the following 3 categories:
- needing advanced help to reach full potential and achieve grade 7/8/9,
- predicted a borderline pass or fail at school and needing help to secure a pass,
- failed at first attempt and needing assistance with retake.

I have a proven track record with all of the above, and have a huge stock of examining body approved resources and worksheets specific to individual topics in the syllabus.

Summer 2025 tutee results:

Grade 9
Grade 8
Grade 7
Grade 7
Grade 5
Grade 5
Grade 4 (foundation paper)

Summer 2024 tutee results:

Grade 9
Grade 9
Grade 8
Grade 6
Grade 5
Grade 5 (foundation paper)
Grade 4 (foundation paper)

Tutoring Approach
My usual approach for preparing a student to score as highly as possible in GCSE exams is to work together in attempting past paper after past paper. Doing this not only gets the student very familiar and experienced with what to expect in the exam, but also flags up areas of weakness

How Online Tuition Works

Through Microsoft Teams, the student will see my webcam trained onto my desk and exercise book; everything I write is captured by webcam.

Testimonials - just a tiny sample from the hundreds of tutees and their families I have helped over the last decade:

"My daugher was struggling in maths and was frustrated by the inadequate maths teaching at school.

We employed Ed's services and are so glad we did. My daughter got on really well with Ed immediately and over the last 18 months he has helped her get from a predicted borderline Grade 5, to actually achieving Grade 7 this Summer.

We are over the moon and very grateful to Ed."

Sandra

"Ed's teaching style and calm approach to making sense of the more difficult maths topics has helped our son reach his full potential...the school were not able to devote the one-to-one time he needed to help get his head around the Grade 9 topics.

Ed filled in this gap over year 11, and enabled our son to achieve a Grade 9; he couldn't have done this without Ed. We highly recommend him"

Priya & Jaz

"I was desperate for my son to get into the higher sets for maths at school, since he was learning very little in the bottom set, mainly because of the disruptive behaviour of his classmates.

Ed stepped in in year 9, and my son's ability shot up almost straight away. This was picked up in assessments at school and he eventually got moved up the sets. I was so relieved.

My son went on to pass his GCSE maths and get on to the college course he wanted, which would never have happened without Ed's help. He was able to get through to my son in a way which was not possible by the school"
